TRIBUNJATENG.COM, SEMARANG - Kendal Industrial Zone (KIK) will later become a Special Economic Zone (KEK) after the Central Java Provincial Government submits priority industrial areas to the Central Government.
So, to support the achievement of KEK goals, the Central Java Provincial Government plans to build the Semarang-Kendal Toll Road.
The Assistant of Economy and Development (Ekbang) of the Central Java Regional Secretariat, Peni Rahayu, revealed that the Semarang-Kendal Toll Road concept is the same as the Semarang-Demak Toll Road.
"So later the one from Demak can go directly to Kendal via the toll road. The concept is the same as the Semarang-Demak Toll Road," he said, Sunday (1/9/2019).
The Semarang-Kendal toll road will also function as a sea dike.
So that it can reduce the impact of flooding in the city of Semarang.
"The process of developing the Semarang-Kendal Toll Road will still be discussed with the Semarang City Government."
"But before Semarang City Government and Kendal Regency Government had met with the Ministry of PUPR RI," he explained.
Peni still does not know yet the total investment in the Semarang-Kendal Toll Road construction.
What he knows is the government is currently preparing it, including the needs in the auction process.
"This is still a process. The initial toll road projectors protruded towards the mainland. But there was a slight shift towards the sea," Peni said.
The Semarang-Kendal Toll Road will later connect to the Kendal Industrial Estate (KIK).
So that it is expected to help grow the national economy.
"During a limited meeting with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Central Java was asked to help boost the national economy by 7 percent."
"So this is our solution to be able to achieve it, namely building the Semarang-Kendal Toll Road."
"God willing, the Central Government will also be assisted," he concluded.
