Kendal, November 13, 2024 – PT Polygroup Manufaktur
Indonesia held the grand opening of its new factory located in the Kendal
Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Central Java. This factory will be the first and
largest Christmas tree factory in Indonesia. Previously, Polygroup had become a
leading global company with four production facilities spread across China and
Mexico.
The company's journey began with a simple promise
made by Paul Cheng to his son, whom he could not afford a Christmas tree for
him at the time. "That simple wish and promise inspired me to start the
factory in 1989, with the goal of creating Christmas trees for my son and for
families around the world. Today, Polygroup has grown into the world’s leading
manufacturer of artificial Christmas trees," said Paul Cheng, Founder and
Chairman of Polygroup.
Polygroup has rapidly expanded its reach as a
global manufacturer of seasonal decorations, specializing in artificial
Christmas trees, decorative lights, and other seasonal ornaments. The company
also produces other home decoration products such as floats and inflatable
pools. The company supplies the global market through its brands Evergreen
Classic, Lumations, and Funsicle. Polygroup's products have been distributed to
various countries, including the United States, Europe, and Asia.
The opening of the new factory is part of the
company's strategy to strengthen production capacity and expand its
distribution network globally. This factory is the first in Southeast Asia, with
an investment value of IDR 1.7 trillion. The number of jobs created by this
factory is estimated to reach 2,000 people when it begins operations and
increase to 6,000 workers by 2025 after Polygroup is fully operational.
Meanwhile, the revenue of this year is expected to reach USD 15 million, with a
target for significant growth to USD 150 million by 2027.
"We are very excited about the opening of this
new factory, which will not only increase our production capacity, but also
contribute to regional economic growth. Moreover, by being located in a Special
Economic Zone, we can take advantage of a range of facilities, which will help
make our operations more efficient and enhance our competitiveness in the
global market,” said Elmer Cheng, CEO of PT Polygroup Manufaktur Indonesia.
Juliani Kusumaningrum, Executive Director of the
Kendal SEZ, who attended the grand opening, also welcomed the presence of
Polygroup. “Being located in the SEZ, we hope that Polygroup will fully benefit
from fiscal incentives and regulatory ease. In addition, we welcome the
presence of Polygroup which is not only a pioneer of the Christmas tree
industry in Indonesia, but also as an industry that has a strong commitment to
implementing sustainable principles. This is in line with Kendal SEZ’s target
to realize the Green Industry in the park," said Juliani.
PT Polygroup Manufaktur Indonesia is committed to
implementing environmentally friendly practices, including the use of renewable
energy. The company also runs a strict reduction, reuse and recycling program,
and integrates sustainability principles into its production processes. This is
part of the company's commitment to implementing a more sustainable and
responsible production system.
