Officially operating in KIP, European Medical Equipment Company PT Beurer Indonesia Technology

October 22, 2024

PT Beurer Indonesia Technology, a company from Europe, inaugurated their first factory in Southeast Asia, in Kendal Industrial Park, Central Java. The inauguration of this factory is part of the global expansion of Beurer GmbH, a leading German medical equipment manufacturing company that was founded in 1919. Currently Beurer has businesses spread across 140 countries with global annual revenues reaching USD 500 million.

The decision to expand to Indonesia was made last year, to be precise on April, 17th 2023. Beurer signed an MOU investment agreement with KEK Kendal at the Hannover Messe event in the city of Hannover, Germany. The signing at that time was witnessed by the Coordinating Minister for the Indonesian Economy, Airlangga Hartarto and the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. Previously, the event was also specially opened by President Joko Widodo together with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

"Previously we had two factories in Europe, namely in Hungary and Moldova, and other factories in China, now we are proud to open our first factory in Southeast Asia, namely in KEK Kendal, Indonesia. "The products that will be produced here will be more diverse, such as blood pressure monitors, therapy lamps and massage items," said Marco Bühler, CEO of PT Beurer Indonesia Technology.

By building this factory, the total investment made by Beurer reached USD 8 million with 50-100 workers employed. In the first year of operation of this factory, Beurer will focus on producing products such as massage devices first, then next year it will start producing medical devices and others.

According to Juliani Kusumaningrum as Head of Sales for the Kendal Industrial Park, Beurer's presence in the KIP is a pioneer for European companies operating in the area. Beurer is also a complement to the existing Medical Equipment industry ecosystem.

"In addition to the fiscal facilities we offer as SEZ, Kendal Industrial Park, which is also a PSN and Joint Venture between two leading developers in Southeast Asia, namely PT Jababeka Tbk and Sembcorp Ltd, is committed to prioritizing Services. "This is the most important thing, where we ensure that our tenants like Beurer in the licensing process, recruiting workers, and the process of completing fiscal facilities all run smoothly."

Meanwhile, by joining PT Beurer Technology Indonesia, it is hoped that it will further add to the list of investments from the European Union entering the country. Apart from that, it is also hoped that it can build a multiplier effect whose benefits can be felt by the surrounding community in Kendal Regency.
