Soft Launching of Integrated Solar Cell and Module Factory by PT Trina Mas Agra Indonesia

October 30, 2024

Kendal, 30 October 2024 - In order to support the Indonesian government's renewable energy mix improvement program, the first integrated Solar Cell and Solar Module factory, PT Trina Mas Agra Indonesia launched a soft launching event in Kendal Regency, Central Java. The factory is a collaboration between Trina Solar Co Ltd, PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (Sinarmas Group), PT PLN Indonesia Power Renewable, and PT Agra Surya Energy.

PT TMAI's production capacity will reach 1 gigawatt peak per year. The products to be produced are photovoltaic solar panels with the latest i-TOPCon Advanced n-type technology. This i-TOPCon Advanced technology is a new generation that can produce a potential production efficiency of 26% with solar panel power produced reaching up to 700 Wp per panel.

Lokita Prasetya, Deputy President Director of PT TMAI said that the presence of this factory is one of the efforts in supporting the program to increase the use of renewable energy in Indonesia through strengthening the domestic solar panel production chain. “The 1000 megawatt solar panel is ready for commercial operation with a production capacity of 700-watt peak per panel which will make it one of the largest solar panels in the world and the most efficient for power generation. We are optimistic that the operation of this plant will support Indonesia's joint efforts to provide clean and renewable energy sources.”

Today's soft launching event is part of the first phase development of TMAI with an investment value of more than USD 100 million and 600 workers. Hartanto Wibowo as Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development of PT PLN, Sahid Junaidi as Secretary of the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, and Tjertja Karja Adil as Head of the Kendal Special Economic Zone Administrator also attended the event.

The plan is that in the next 2-3 years TMAI will increase its production capacity to 3 gigawatt peak. The development will be carried out in the same location, namely in the Kendal Special Economic Zone. This was certainly welcomed by Juliani Kusumaningrum as Head of Sales & Marketing KEK Kendal.

According to Juliani, with the investment value and type of industry in line with the main activities in Kendal SEZ, TMAI will receive several facilities from the Special Economic Zone. “The Renewable Energy Industry, including the solar module and cell processing industry, is one of the main activities in Kendal SEZ. With this, as well as the considerable investment value of TMAI, they can enjoy facilities in the form of Tax Holiday, which is a 100% reduction in corporate income tax for up to 10 years.”

The Special Economic Zone, which is one of the PSNs, is a joint venture between PT Jababeka Tbk and Sembcorp Ltd from Singapore. In the future, it is determined to become a place for the Renewable Energy Industry ecosystem. It is noted that this industry is now growing rapidly in Kendal Regency. It is noted that in Kendal SEZ itself the Renewable Energy and Automotive Industries are included in the three largest types of industries after Garment / Textile and Electronics as of the third quarter of this year.
