Indonesia's First Integrated Solar Panel Factory, Trina Mas Agra Indonesia Officially Fully Operates in KIP

June 19, 2025

Trina Mas Agra Indonesia has officially commenced full operations of Indonesia's first integrated solar cell and panel factory located in KIP. The project is the result of a strategic collaboration between China's Trina Solar Co Ltd, PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (Sinar Mas' energy and infrastructure unit), and PT PLN (Persero), which together established a large-scale and high-tech factory in the country.

The plant has a sizeable production capacity of 1 gigawatt per year and produces panels with up to 720 watts per unit. The panels meet world-class Tier1 standards and are expected to meet the demand for renewable energy development in Indonesia.

TMAI has also used NiTOPCon Advance technology that has met the AAA bankability standard from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), so that the products produced have high efficiency and reliability. The initial Domestic Component level (TKDN) reached 41 percent.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, Kendal Regent Dyah Kartika Permanasari, several TMAI directors, industrial estate developers, and invited guests from the local government. Today's event also saw the signing of a partnership between TMAI and PLN and a solar energy project developer.

Ooi Kok Tiong, CEO of TMAI, said the full operation is expected to support the acceleration of the energy transition program and energy self-sufficiency. "With an investment value of more than Rp 1.5 trillion, this factory not only provides high-quality solar panels for the domestic and export markets, but also plays a role in supporting import reduction, and strengthening the domestic supply chain. We also focus on creating local jobs and strengthening the clean energy ecosystem," said Ooi Kok Tiong. It is known that the operation of the TMAI factory will create up to 640 jobs for local workers.

Executive Director of KIP, Juliani Kusumaningrum, added that the full operation of the TMAI factory is clear evidence of the region’s development. "The full operation of the TMAI production facility emphasizes KIP's strategic role in the development of the renewable energy manufacturing industry. We certainly see this as a momentum to expand employment, strengthen the new and renewable energy sector, and support Indonesia to become an important player in the global industry," she said.

The presence of TMAI in KIP is also clear evidence of Indonesia's commitment to building an integrated clean energy industry from upstream to downstream. Renewable energy is now also a new trend in the growth of Kendal Industrial Park.

With the support of fiscal facilities such as tax holidays and tax allowances, import duty exemptions, VAT exemptions, and ease of licensing, KIP continues to strengthen its position as an investment magnet in line with sustainable development programs.
